Still going strong: Pensioner David Latimer from Cranleigh, Surrey planted this bottle garden 53 years ago and it has not been watered it since 1972 – yet continues to thrive in its sealed environment entirely on recycled air, nutrients and water. Latimer agrees it is ‘incredibly dull in that it doesn’t do anything’, but remains fascinated to see how long it will last. "
